Brexit: MPs must act, now!

To paraphrase a famous quote, ‘Now is the time for all good MPs to come to the aid of the United Kingdom.’

Brexit is the enemy at the gate, the wolf at the door and the most significant threat to our collective future. This is our darkest hour of greatest need and Brexit must be stopped.

Of course Brexit must be stopped.

And, we have the power to do it.

It doesn’t need a general election.

It doesn’t need another referendum.

It doesn’t even need another campaign or the approval of anyone outside of Westminster and the governments of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland (once it resumes).

Simply stated, our Parliament should get a collective backbone, weigh-up all the options and then do the right thing.

We don’t need to take back any more control to take back sanity.

We don’t need to take back any more control to take back reason.

We don’t need to take back any more control in order to do the right thing.

We already have more control that any sovereign country needs or should reasonably desire.

Brexit is a basket case of uncertainties, risks, costs and challenges. No one in their right mind would expect anything good to come out of such a doomed-to-failure death-march of a project. Not even May’s lunatic right-wing Tory government and their abject lack of reasonable, coherent and cohesive strategies, policies and plans.

The UK should exit from Brexit now and our Members of Parliament can make it happen.

I call upon all decent, reasonable and coherent MPs who love their country more than their party and more than their own seats. I call upon them to do the right thing.

Let’s face it. Brexit will be an absolute bloody disaster for many people in the UK. Small and medium sized businesses will go bust, large businesses will move elsewhere, communities will be destroyed, families crippled and friends divided. Brexit will really hurt us, but it will also hurt our friends, allies and partners. This is ‘men behaving badly’ writ large. Nobody likes a friend, ally or partner who insists on going on a serial-arsehole binge, especially with the “fuck everybody else” attitude that far too many people are taking.

We must exit from Brexit now.

So, please, be courageous MPs and do the right thing!

Stop this madness.

Do your bloody job!
