Martyn Rhisiart Jones, with the capable assistance of Amy Grok McGrockicle

Madrid, Sunday 11 January 2026

Introduction to the Collected Reviews of Martyn Jones

In an age awash with earnest manifestos, sanctimonious tech tomes, and the relentless hum of corporate orthodoxy, Martyn Jones arrives. He comes like a gleeful heretic at the cathedral door. He is armed with profanity and philosophical bite. He also has an irrepressible instinct for the absurd.

Nine… Three Times Three

Martyn Rhisiart Jones

Madrid, Friday 9th January 2026

Nine isn’t “lucky” in Welsh Celtic thought; it’s structural. It’s the number that describes how reality is layered, crossed, ripened, and completed.

Let’s unpack it.

What do Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins have to tell us about the magical Celtic number ten?

To capture the essence of these two titans, we must look at the number ten through two different lenses. One lens is the thunderous, poetic gravity of Richard Burton. The other is the quiet, rhythmic precision of Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Data Warehousing means monolithic databases?

Martyn Jones, Brooklyn, 27th September 2024

Narrator: Another false meme doing the rounds is that Data Warehousing necessarily means monolithic databases. This is not what data warehouses have been for many businesses.

Physician, heal thyself!

Narrator: Consider this. If the originators, acolytes and sycophants of data mesh hadn’t been so free and easy with how they created and perpetrated technical debt, especially data model and data quality-related technical debt, then we wouldn’t need data mesh to try and get us out of the mess these sloppy developer people put us into in the first place.

Narrator: It doesn’t matter what you are trying to do, or even if you know what you are trying to do, but if in doubt, blame the quality of the data. There was a time when data quality was a massive impediment to business data integration.

Data quality assurance was a glint in IT’s eye. A far-away place that nobody knew how to get to.
